After a 14 hour nightshift last night it was time to relax in the garden this morning and watch Mag do the gardening and show me a few yoga moves she is learning on a six week free course :) With no wind forecast this weekend we were perhaps heading out on the bikes but at 2ish the wind got to double figures even if westerly - offshore. It was such a nice day that I headed down to The Dip and rigged big, the wind was very light when I left the beach but I headed over to Bawdsey Bay and caught a few gust - nothing special so I headed up the River Deben, past the digger being overrun by the tide at Felixtowe Ferry ! I was heading to Ramsholt but just short the wind died completely so I turned back and at this point didn't think I would make it back :( Then if by magic at 4.20 the wind switched from the west to N/E and increased :) it was a nice beat back to The Ferry through the moored boats, the only dodgey bit was the bend by the sailing club where the tide was strong and the wind was light and I had to avoid several yachts heading up-river ! I was also heckled from the back by Swainy :) I then headed out to sea by the small gap by Bawdsey beach and took several long broad reaches ending up 4 miles down the coast at The Manor caravan site where 4 windsurfers were just heading out :) The sea was fairly flat and broad reaching was great fun :) then after a quick chat with the windsurfers I had a great beat back !!! I sailed just past The Dip and had two more reaches before coming ashore after 3 hours on the water - not falling in once :) Longboard sailing is great and everyone one should get one - shame a few more sailors didn't get down :(
